Mid 2008 VAN HELDEN MARINE & PROJECTS was founded by Michiel C.B. van Helden. Before founding this company, Michiel van Helden worked in several functions, all within the marine industry:

He was commercial and project manager at Svitzer Salvage, one of the largest salvage companies in the world, technical superintendent at Seaworx, presently Vroon Offshore Services, and consultant/surveyor at HMC and Corus.

Michiel van Helden founded VAN HELDEN MARINE & PROJECTS because he saw a growing need of marine companies for experienced consultants to provide assistance in managing contracts & projects and with asset and safety related queries. The need for skilled and specialized consultants, especially at interim basis, has grown over the years because marine companies are focussing more on their core business and the improvement of their efficiency, while high educated and skilled personnel remains hard to find.

Michiel van Helden holds a M.Sc. degree, obtained at the University of Bradford in ‘Maintenance and Safety Management’, and a B.Sc. degree, obtained at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam as Maritime Officer.
